PRIAPOS was the rustic god of the bounty of the vegetable garden.
I carved this (a few minutes at a time) over the span of a week. I have stopped in between and photographed individual pieces (see links) that made up this final piece. It turned into one good looking pot of soup an hour later after the photo shoot :-D
The Main Stem is a heart of a carrot, 3 different butterflies.made of yam, daikon, and beet.
In this picture:
Spanish onion, Daikon, Carrot, green Onion, Celery, Cucumber, Red Pepper, Radish, Flowering Onion, Beet, Yam and Spaghetti Squash (craved with leaf patterns and used as the basket for the bouquet, mostly hidden in this view)
I am a fine art photographer, graphic/digital artist living in Penticton, BC. Canada. As a fine art photographer you have to dig deeper than merely pushing a button on a camera and capturing an image. You have to encapsulate how you as the artist views the scene, how it makes you feel, and what you want your viewers to see and feel. The camera is just one of many tools photographers processes to help convey these emotions to their viewers. Creating an image is not just viewing what the camera captures but expresses what the artist sees. My images, though seldom of the human form, are self portraits that emanate my innermost emotions in that moment in time. I think this is why I am recognized by my peers, people make a connection with me...
